Introduction
In the fast-paced, digital-first world we inhabit, the spirit of giving needs a fresh, dynamic platform that resonates with the younger generation. Enter Bono, a giving platform designed not just to facilitate philanthropy, but to revolutionize it. I had the unique opportunity to design the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for Bono, targeting the aspirations and sensibilities of Generation Z.
Branding for a New Era
The branding of Bono was a critical first step. We focused on creating a brand that speaks directly to Gen Z – a generation known for its passion for social causes, desire for authenticity, and a digital-first approach. Bono’s branding is vibrant, youthful, and empowering, resonating with the ethos of being a “home activist” – making a change from the comfort of your home. Our slogans, “Be the change without changing anything” and “Change within reach,” encapsulate this spirit, encouraging young users to make a difference seamlessly in their daily lives.
The User Journey in Bono
The MVP of Bono is designed with a dual focus: to offer a deeply personalized giving experience and to encourage community engagement through ‘humble bragging’. Users start by selecting causes that resonate personally, ensuring each journey is unique and meaningful. The culmination of this journey is the sharing feature, where users can subtly showcase their contributions on social media, inspiring others and extending the platform’s reach. These core elements align with our MVP goals of creating an engaging, user-centric platform that empowers a new generation of givers.
